Superfoods Turmeric Porridge

Oats are my favorite comfort breakfast! They are hearty, warm, rich in fiber and satiate me for the whole morning. I love to switch things up with different flavors, spices and food combinations. Turmeric is a great anti-inflammatory and maca powder is great for hormone balancing, so this porridge is incredibly nourishing for your body.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup rolled ultra fine oats, gluten free
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1/2 tsp ceylan cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Filtered water, to cover
  • 1/2 banana, finely sliced, mashed
  • A splash of plant based milk
  • Toppings: dried mulberries, kiwi, coconut shreds, coconut yogurt and nut butter (I used pumpkin)

Preparation:

  • Add the oats, ground flax seeds, maca powder, cinnamon and turmeric to a bowl and mix until incorporated.
  • Boil water in a pot and add to the bowl of oats just to cover. Let it rest until fully absorbed (around 2 min).
  • Add the splash of plant based milk, the sliced banana and mix well together.
  • Top your bowl with the different toppings and enjoy!
